Template Generator
The core project is tool.openpottery.com, a geometry template generator designed for pottery handbuilding. It produces clean nets and shape outputs without requiring manual cleanup before fabrication.
- Polyhedra coverage: Includes most classic polyhedra, polyhedra with mixed face types, and the full Johnson solids set.
- Multiple outputs: Export STL, PDF, and SVG depending on whether you are printing molds, cutting templates, or testing geometry.
- Cricut-first workflow: SVG output is formatted to go directly into Cricut Design Space for template cutting.
Why It Matters for Pottery
This workflow makes complex faceted forms practical in the studio. You can prototype with paper, move to acetate for reusable templates, and then cut slabs with repeatable dimensions and join angles.
An optional packing algorithm lays out template pieces more efficiently, reducing wasted sheet material during Cricut jobs.
